Travel

I'm strongly agree with Mark Twain "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindlessness." Why people do love traveling; in visible side, it's completely satisfy human curiousness. They want to see, look, taste and experience diverse things that they never know or think before; and even lucky they find the new land as Christopher Columbus. In invisible side, people learn from it and fight for their rights. For example, people against racial discrimination in every country; and women talk more about women's rights nowadays. Because you do not go, do not see so you do not fight. Old generation lose the chance to fight for their freedom out of prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindlessness because they have little chance to travel and see what they deserve to have.

St. Augustine said, "The world is a book, and those who not travel read only one page." Thus, I am so grateful to be born in modem time, when the war has already stopped. I have more chance to travel and study around Asia, Europe, America so I am asking for equal rights between men and women. Even though, I still see and hear unfair things in some country, yet I understand which culture has their own rule, own trait. That make life more colorful to discover, yet the only one thing is people there dare to fight or accept.

  2. Hi Kathy,
I'm not sure that we have the same idea because we're both from Vietnam or not. :)I can't deny that travelling oversea has made me change a lot from my thinking to my behavior, and my mother said that she was pleased with my change.
Regarding discrimination and unfairness, I have seen and heard a lot about them and even it happened to me. It's a long story and I think human being need a lot of time to change it.

  3. I like your St. Augustine quote! Maybe I'll use that next semester. You have detailed thoughts about travel and social change. Very interesting!
